SkillsUSA is the only organization for students in technical, skilled and service careers, including health careers. It's designed for you and run by you. Your chapter chooses, plans and conducts its own activities.
Being a SkillsUSA member is all about being a champion. This means much more than winning a contest-- it's the attribute of dedication to personal and professional excellence. You'll develop into a well-rounded person with technical, academic and "employability" skills, the skills that not only help you get a job but also have a successful career. In every chapter meeting, contest, leadership conference and activity, you'll be building these skills. You'll also learn how to participate in meetings and be a leader in your school and community.
SkillsUSA is dedicated to building champions for America's work force. There aren't enough skilled workers, and SkillsUSA members are addressing that need. Along with technical skills, employability skills are in demand more than ever. Employers know they need individuals like you to make a difference in their earning power. By joining a national organization of students with similar skills and career focus, you can also help the general public become more aware of the contribution that people with skills make to the American standard of living.
SkillsUSA offers many opportunities to achieve as an individual. You have unique talents and abilities that can be developed further. For example, you can grow in skill proficiency and leadership through participation in the Professional Development Program.
